No, the closing date for the return of the surveys was 10 August and whilst we did accept surveys for a few weeks after that date, the consultation period is complete.

What if I still want to comment about the new routes you are starting Sunday 4 November?

You can provide feedback at any time via our regular channels. Visit our Contact Us section for details

What did you do with all the surveys you received?

All of the information from the surveys was entered into a database from which we were able to generate reports on the community’s views on the proposed network.

Did the input from the community make any difference?

Yes. State Transit carefully considered every submission and noted the requests, suggestions and issues raised by the community. This resulted in a revised Route 623 being included in the new bus network for a 6-month trial only.

The community also asked us about bus ticket outlets, connecting buses with trains etc. We have included a list of bus ticket outlets in our brochure and are looking at better connections at railway stations.

We have also addressed the following:

  • A wider range of tickets at outlets.
  • Timetables for updated bus network
  • School bus services
  • Review of the locations of some bus stops.

What do you mean when you describe the bus to Beecroft as a revised Route 623 for a 6-month trial?

Following comments received through the ‘have your say’ process STA revised the proposal to remove Route 623. The route retains the number 623 but the service is different to the current service. The revised Route 623 will run from Beecroft Station to Oakes Road, Carlingford, via Beecroft Road, Murray Farm Road and North Rocks Road. Service extends to Westfield North Rocks during weekday off-peak periods.

The revised Route 623 will operate for 6 months as a trial. During this time STA will evaluate the number of passengers using this service.

What will happen to school special services?

All existing school special services will continue to operate from Sunday 4 November, 2007. Schools will be notified prior to this date of any proposed changes to route numbers or timetables. A number of new school specials will also be introduced following consultation with the local school communities.

Can I still catch the bus to go shopping?

Yes. You will be able to go to either Parramatta, North Rocks Westfield, Carlingford Court, Oatlands shops or Carlingford Village depending on which bus you catch. You can also catch a bus to Parramatta or Epping railway stations and catch a train to other major shopping centres if you wish.

Can I still catch the bus to Parramatta?

Yes. All of the three proposed bus routes will go to Parramatta and Epping.

Do I have to walk further to catch the bus now?

Some customers may have to walk a little further to catch the bus but overall the proposed bus routes are positioned to service a broad area of the community.

Why are you changing the bus routes?

The existing bus network is complicated. There are several diversions, the routes differ depending on the time of day and for some customers the way they go to a destination is not the same way they return home. Not only is this confusing but the trip times can vary considerably. STA would like to simplify the routes and make trips more direct for our customers.

What is a diversion?

A diversion is a short trip taken from the main bus route. There are several on the existing Routes 623, 628 and 629. The bus only diverts to these extensions of the routes on different trips throughout the day. These diversions make the bus trip longer for customers.

How do you know which routes don’t have many customers?

STA has checked the loadings, that means the number of passengers who board the bus. We have been able to identify which routes have low patronage and during what times of the day.
