Routes 624, 628 and 629 to be replaced by 546, 548 and 549

Routes 624, 628 and 629 will be discontinued. New routes 546, 548 and 549 will replace these services providing customers with simplified and more direct services.

Route 623

In response to community feedback the network has been amended to include the provision of a revised Route 623 as a 6-month trial only, during which time State Transit will evaluate the number of passengers using this service. The revised Route 623 will operate between Beecroft Station and Oakes Road, Carlingford via Murray Farm Road, Mondays to Fridays. Services at off-peak times during the day will extend to Westfield North Rocks and some trips will run via Range Road, West Pennant Hills. Passengers wishing to travel between Beecroft and Parramatta will need to change buses at Westfield North Rocks.

Route 552, Parramatta to Oatlands via North Paramatta (weekday off peak only)

A trial bus service will operate between Parramatta and oatlands via Prince Street and Bettington Road.

Services will depart Parramatta hourly between 9.57am and 1.57pm and will depart Oatlands (Belmore Street East) hourly betwen 10.17am and 2.17pm.

This Route 552 service, when combined with Route 546 will provide an average 30-minute frequency between Parramatta and Oatlands during weekday off-peak periods.

Ticket Outlets

The community also asked us for the locations of bus ticket outlets and timetables for the updated network. Now that the bus routes have been finalised the timetables will be available on this website from Monday 22 October 2007. A list of bus ticket outlets can be found in the Ticket Outlets section. We will continue sourcing additional agents to sell our tickets and ensure timetables are available for customers.

School Students

school kidsWe are committed to transporting school students and all existing school special services will continue to operate from Sunday 4 November 2007. Schools will be notified prior to this date of any proposed changes to route numbers or timetables. A number of new school specials will also be introduced following consultation with the local school communities.

Better Community Access

Responses from the community also indicated that simple and direct routes were important. The updated bus network is simple and the routes more direct. Whilst some customers will now need to walk further to access bus stops the new Routes 546, 548 and 549 are easier to understand and will benefit the whole community.

We will closely monitor the new network, promote the network to attract new customers and respond to passenger demand.
