Recreational Opportunities

The Bus depots are places where employees form new and lasting friendships through a range of social and sporting interests.
The State Transit Bus Institute organises sporting events, competitions and social activities throughout the year.
Events in the last year included touch football, soccer, fishing, tennis, golf, table tennis, mixed netball, ten pin bowling, lawn bowls, snooker, chess, walking, basketball, road races and swimming. Make sure you contact your Depot Institute Organiser when you start so you can make the most of this great social network.
The depots also provide recreational facilities where employees can go to unwind when they have a break. Most depots have snooker and table tennis tables, card and board games, TV and DVD, computers (with access to the internet) and resting areas.
Depots also have health promotion programs for employees for example, walking clubs, weight watchers and general fitness programs.
Some employees prefer to organise their own recreational events and make the most of the time off in the middle of a broken shift to go surfing, swimming, shopping, jogging, or attend a gym.The mixed netball inter-depot competition has been going since 2001. There is always lots of friendly rivalry between the depots. Its a great opportunity to meet people from other work locations and keep fit at the same time.
