How to Apply

The information on the following pages has been compiled to assist you in applying for a position with the State Transit Authority. Please read it carefully before submitting your application.

Each job listing has an Information Pack that includes:
  • Advertisement with the Selection Criteria
  • Position Description
  • Application Form
  • Drug and Alcohol Policy Information (FORM 527)
  • Merit Selection Brochure

Download and carefully read through the documentation and the additional information.

If you require more information about the job, telephone the nominated Contact Officer in the advertisement.

To apply, email your application to jobs@sta.nsw.gov.au.

You must attach the following in the email with your application:

  1. Statement of Claim against the Selection Criteria
  2. A current Resume with two work-related Referees
  3. Application Form

Statement of Claim against the Selection Criteria


This is a critical part of your application. Your statement of claim against the selection criteria allows the selection committee to assess your relevant skills, knowledge and experience with the requirements of the position. This will form the basis on which the selection committee will shortlist applicants for further assessment.

You need to address each selection criteria by providing relevant examples of your skills and experience to demonstrate that you can perform the role to the required level. Express yourself in a clear, concise fashion and ensure that you check the grammar and spelling.

Resume


Your resume or curriculum vitae is a clear, current and concise document that outlines your personal details, employment history, education and training. The selection committee will use your resume as a reference document to validate your claim against the selection criteria and to ensure your work experience meets the job requirements. Therefore, it is important that you provide copies of relevant trade certificates and/or qualifications and provide sufficient detail of the main duties and responsibilities of each position you have held.

You should also include the names and contact details of at least two people who can provide a work related reference. The referees should be a supervisor or manager who has knowledge of your ability and achievements in your employment history. If you do not want the selection committee to contact your referees without your prior consent, please indicate this in your application.


Submission of Application


You must submit your application by the advertised closing date. Any extension on submissions must have the written agreement of the Recruitment and Employee Services Co-ordinator responsible for the recruitment. They can be contacted through the Recruitment and Employee Services Unit at the details listed below.

You can submit your application by email to jobs@sta.nsw.gov.au. It is important that you attach an application form, statement of claim against the selection criteria and resume with two work-related referees. Your application may not receive further consideration, if you have not attached these documents.

You can also submit your application by post, hand-delivery or by fax. Again, it is important that you attach the above documents for the selection committee’s consideration.
