Sunday 8 August - City2Surf
Category: Transport News and Announcements
Posted Date: 28 July 2010
Entrants will only have to show their chest bib when they hop on CityRail trains, Sydney Buses, special buses from Bondi Beach and Sydney Ferries as travel on public transport is included in the event’s entry price.
Up to 80,000 people are expected line up for the 14 kilometre race, which will start at the new time of 8.30am on Sunday 8 August.
There will be extensive road closures in the CBD and Eastern Suburbs between 5am and 4pm. Some bus services around Watsons Bay, Rose Bay and Bondi will also be altered during this time.
There will be extra buses on major corridors including Parramatta Road, Victoria Road, City Road, Anzac Parade, Military Road and Epping Road to get runners to the starting line. An extra ferry will leave Manly at 7am for Circular Quay.
There is a slight change to post-race transport arrangements this year, with special event express buses from Bondi Beach only travelling as far as Bondi Junction, not to the city as in previous years. The changes are designed to reduce queueing at Bondi Beach and make the trip home faster.
These special buses will leave Campbell Parade near Notts Avenue every few minutes between 10am and 3.30pm.
Anyone heading back to the CBD can catch one of the additional trains to Central from Bondi Junction, or Route 333 and Route 380 buses to Circular Quay from the bus stop on Bondi Road near Sandridge Street.
Rail passengers should also be aware that weekend trackwork means buses will replace trains on parts of the Western and Blue Mountains lines.
To plan your trip on public transport, viait Transport Info, or call 131500.
For details of road closures, visit RTA News and Special Events.
