using 'Single Ride' and 'TravelTen'
Single Ride tickets
Single Ride tickets are valid for one bus trip. If you change buses you will need to purchase or validate another ticket.
Although we encourage you to PrePay, single ride tickets can be purchased from the bus driver, except for those services designated “PrePay only”. Fares are determined by the number of sections you travel.
If travelling with a prepaid single ride ticket you need to dip it into the green validating machines on board the bus. The trip details will print on the reverse of the ticket.
If you pay your fare to the driver, you will be issued with a paper ticket that is printed with your trip details on it. You must pay with small change or exact fare as drivers' do not carry a lot of change.
You need to retain your ticket for proof of purchase, until you have completed your journey.
TravelTen tickets
A TravelTen provides ten rides on the one ticket. The ticket is valid until all rides are used and there is no specified time frame in which to use them. Fares are determined by the number of sections you travel.
Ideal usage
TravelTen is ideal for:
- customers who travel by one bus on a regular basis
- occasional users of buses who like to have a ticket on hand
- groups travelling together – the one ticket can be validated (dipped) once for each person in the group.
Benefits
Using a TravelTen benefits you in the following ways:
- Save money (20% on single ride fares).
- Faster boarding times for you and everybody else.
- Tickets do not expire until all ten rides are taken.
- Tickets can be purchased in bulk and used as required.
- Dip for a friend, so you both save time and money.
How to use your TravelTen
TravelTens tickets need to be dipped into the green validating machines upon boarding the bus. The details of each trip will be printed on the reverse of the ticket and once all ten rides have been used “NO RIDES LEFT” will print.
Limitations
- TravelTen tickets cannot be used on Private or Special Event buses.
- If your daily trip requires travel on other bus, train or ferry services, or you use public transport frequently during the week, a two-zone bus TravelPass or Bus-Ferry-Rail TravelPass may be a better solution.
Which ticket do I need?
There are different Single Ride and TravelTen tickets for travel over various distances (or sections). How to count sections.
