What are accessible buses?
Accessible buses have:
Policy on wheelchairs, prams, strollers and ride-on scootersState Transit recognises the diverse needs of the travelling public, as well as its obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act, by continually improving its capacity to carry essential mobility aids (such as wheelchairs), and other disability mobility aids such as ride on scooters and go-fors. State Transit does not refuse carriage on the grounds of disability. At the same time, we need to have regard to, firstly, the safety of everyone travelling on our buses, and secondly, the comfort and convenience of all members of the travelling public.
How do I know which trips are accessible?Printed timetablesAccessible routes show the wheelchair symbol on the cover of the timetable and each accessible trip is marked with a wheelchair symbol. View our list of accessible bus routes (PDF 41.9 Kb) or search Timetables. Trip PlanningTrip planning results and timetables at www.131500.com.au use trip notes to show accessible trips (normally marked with *1). You can plan your trip using only accessible services by doing an advanced search and checking the 'Easy access/wheelchair accessible' option. The results will only show accessible services using buses, trains and ferries. Bus Stop TimetablesBus stop timetables use the letter 'a' or the wheelchair symbol to indicate accessible trips. Accessible buses may also be used on other routes when they are available. Tips for using wheelchair accessible servicesPlan your trip using the 131500 Trip Planner
