Marches, parades and festivals

During major planned events, Sydney Buses provides additional bus services to cater for increased customer demand. Many events involve road closures that may result in diversions to bus services.

If you are travelling during an event, you can also check our news items to find out whether your travel plans will be disrupted.


Sporting Events and Concerts

During major sporting events, additional regular buses or special event shuttle buses may operate.

Moore Park:

Sydney Buses operates Moore Park Special Event Buses during major events at the Moore Park precinct, including the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and Allianz Stadium. 

Buses operate before and after games or concerts and normally display Route 1 on their destination board at the front of the bus. Buses normally leave from Chalmers Street outside Central Station arriving at the Moore Park Bus Station. For some special events, Special Event Buses also leave from Circular Quay (Route 3).

In some instances, such as Sydney Swans AFL or Waratahs Super 12 Rugby matches, special Park and Ride services also operate.  Check transportnsw.info for specific event details.

Randwick races:

During Saturday races at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney Buses operates chartered Special Event Buses between Central Station and Randwick Racecourse.

Buses operate before, during and after the races and normally display Route 32 on their destination board at the front of the bus. Buses normally leave from Chalmers Street outside Central Station and arrive at Randwick Racecourse on Alison Road. Check transportnsw.info for specific event details.


Ticketing Arrangements for Special Event Buses

Customers can use regular tickets on Special Event buses to Moore Park and Randwick including MyBus, MyMulti, Family Funday Sunday and Pensioner Excursion tickets.

Customers travelling by train should purchase a Moore Park link ticket and change at Central Station.  Otherwise, purchase a special event bus ticket from a staff member on site, before boarding one of the Moore Park or Randwick Racecourse Special Event Buses. 

Please note that tickets are not sold on board these services, so customers will need to use a pre-purchased ticket to travel on these services.

Sydney Olympic Park (SOP)

image of special event bus at ANZ StadiumDuring major events at Sydney Olympic Park (including Acer Arena and ANZ Stadium), public transport may be included in the ticket price.  For these events, travel is provided upon presentation of your Ticketek ticket. This includes travel on regular Sydney Buses, CityRail trains, Sydney Ferries and the Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses Major Event Buses.
